Gunchomon Hyogo Kusari Tachi (B)

Four separate parallel chains are linked with wire to be made as a belt (obitori) called Hyogo Kusari. Because it is luxurious and experessing dignity, it is also called as Ikamono-Zukuri (Heavy-Duty) Tachi and was prevalent among court nobles and high ranking Samurai from the late Heian era to the early Kamakura period.

Tsuka is covered with white shark skin and a bird crest is engraved on each tawarabyo. Saya is covered with a plated brass sash along the edge and Gunchomon is engraved on the brass-plated ground of the Mekugi, Oh-seppa of the Tsuba and other metal fittings.
